ANIME NEWS: Sequel to 'Tokyo Ghoul' to hit theaters across Japan in 2019

A sequel to the live-action feature film "Tokyo Ghoul" will hit cinemas nationwide in 2019.
Tentatively titled “Tokyo Ghoul 2,” the fantasy movie will see Masataka Kubota reprising the leading role of Ken Kaneki.
Shu Tsukiyama, a popular character that will appear in the live-action film series for the first time, will be played by Shota Matsuda, while Maika Yamamoto will portray Toka Kirishima.
The film, based on Sui Ishida's “Tokyo Ghoul” dark fantasy manga series, is set in Tokyo where human-devouring ghouls live among regular people. The story focuses on the anguish and conflict of college student Kaneki, who has become part ghoul after an incident.
The second live-action film adaptation will introduce Tsukiyama, aka “gourmet.” The encounter between him and Kaneki will develop into a battle over the coexistence of humans and ghouls.
The first live-action film was released in July 2017. The original manga series has also spawned anime adaptations.
