Avengers 4 will reportedly go into reshoots in September, and Marvel has opened up casting for a specific role in the film. According to a new report, a casting agency has put out a call for a person who fits the description given by Marvel to apply for the role of a ‘photo double’ in the film.
The reshoots will reportedly involve the filming of new Wakanda-centric scenes for the fourth Avengers film, potentially to include more Black Panther scenes. Avengers: Infinity War was released on the heels of the global success of Black Panther, and even had a significant portion of the film set in the fictional African country of Wakanda.
The project, which was shot back-to-back with Infinity War, will be filmed under the working title ‘Mary Lou’. The casting call reads, “We are looking for a Photo Double for Project ‘Mary Lou’ shooting in the Fayetteville area. Rate is $150/12 and a fitting will be required. The dates of this shoot are this month, but the days are TBD. If you match these specs, please email us at atlantaextras@gmail.com, send 3/4 shot and body shot using the photo example we just posted online. Please send all sizes, contact info and in the email header it should say ‘Photo Double for Mary Lou Submission’ Thank you!”
The release states that the only requirement for the casting is that the applicant be a local and that they fit the description, which specifies the height (5’3”), waist (26”), bust (32.5 B) and hair colour (shoulder length to long brown hair), among other details.
According to CentralCasting.com, a ‘photo double’ is a person who “must resemble an actor as closely as possible in height, build, hair colour, and complexion. They often need to look like they could be the actor’s twin. A photo double can be used when a principal actor is in a scene but is not the focus and is essentially functioning as a Background Actor. Since the photo double looks like the actor from a distance, they can film in the actor’s place while they prepare for other scenes.”
Based on these descriptions, it would appear that Marvel is looking for a photo double for either Scarlett Johansson, Elizabeth Olsen (or maybe Brie Larson?).
In a recent interview, directors Joe & Anthony Russo provided an update about Avengers 4 for fans.“We’ve worked on the edit all summer and we’re excited to finally get these missing pieces in the film and then we expect to be in post through the fall and winter. We hope to be done by March,” they told Deadline.
The fourth Avengers film, due out in May, will conclude this iteration of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and provide fans with some much-needed closure. Infinity War ended with half the universe’s population dying at the hands of the villainous Thanos. His finger snap also took the lives of half the Avengers. The fourth film has been rumoured to included a time travel plot in which the surviving superheroes will attempt to rescue their friends.
